Acceptance of these Terms
By creating an account or using Journiz, you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA and UK) to use Journiz. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
Your account
- Provide accurate information when you sign up.
- Keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us at privacy@journiz.app immediately if you suspect unauthorized use.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Journiz to violate any law or third-party right.
- Upload content you do not have the right to share.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or other users' data.
- Disrupt the Service, run automated scrapers, or load-test our APIs without permission.
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate other users.
- Reverse engineer the Service except as expressly permitted by law.
Your content
- You retain ownership of all content you create in Journiz — trips, photos, comments, ratings, and notes.
- You grant Journiz a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify, and display that content solely as needed to provide the Service to you and the companions you choose to share with.
- You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of content you contribute, including third-party place data you save into a trip.
Companions and shared trips
- When you invite a companion, the trip data and the participants' names and avatars become visible to them.
- We do not control how companions use information they receive in shared trips. Choose companions carefully.
Outdoor safety
- Journiz is a planning tool. It is not a substitute for proper preparation, navigation skills, current weather information, local knowledge, or emergency services.
- Trail data, place data, and elevation profiles come from third-party sources and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date.
- You assume all risks associated with outdoor activities. Always carry appropriate gear, share your plans with someone you trust, and follow local regulations.
Service availability and changes
- We work to keep Journiz reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
- We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Where feasible, we will communicate material changes in advance.
Termination
- You may delete your account at any time. Email privacy@journiz.app if you would like us to delete your account on your behalf.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a risk to other users or the Service.
- On termination, your access to the Service ends. We will delete your data per the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JOURNIZ DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JOURNIZ AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR_JURISDICTION], without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located in [YOUR_VENUE], unless your local consumer protection law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
Changes to these Terms
